Having a popcorn machine in your home or business can be a great deal of fun and a simple way to provide a quick, delicious treat. But what about when you or your customers are craving something a little different from the classic buttery popcorn? A fun and delectable solution is making gourmet popcorn. While making gourmet anything may sound intimidating, gourmet popcorn is a simple and scrumptious way to shake things up with your home or business popcorn machine.

With gourmet popcorn you have the ability to use a variety of sweet and salty flavors to use as a base for great tasting popcorn treats including chocolate, chipotle cheddar, butter and sea salt and coconut macaroon.

A popular gourmet popcorn is caramel popcorn and with the following ingredients and instructions this tasty treat will be going fast in your kitchen or concession stand.

Ingredients:
1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
½ cup corn syrup
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 quarts of popped popcorn

Directions:
1. After popping your popcorn in your home or business popcorn maker place it in a very large bowl and preheat your oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, corn syrup and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil without stirring 4 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in soda and vanilla. Pour in a thin stream over popcorn, stirring to coat.
3. Place in two large shallow baking dishes and bake in preheated oven, stirring every 15 minutes, for 1 hour. Remove from oven and let cool completely before breaking into pieces.
